How call translation works

1. Open a chat in Oralingo and start a voice or video call.
2. Each of you talks in your own language, at a normal pace.
3. Oralingo recognizes what each person says and shows it on screen as captions, translated into the other person's language, as each sentence finishes.
4. You keep hearing each other's real voices. Nothing is dubbed or replaced.

Calls are one-to-one, between two Oralingo users, on iPhone and Android.

Why captions instead of a robot voice?

Hearing the real person, with their tone, their laugh and their pauses, keeps a call feeling like a conversation. The captions tell you what was said; the voice tells you how it was meant.

Tips for a good translated call

• Speak in complete sentences and pause briefly at the end of each one. The translation appears when a sentence is finished.
• Use headphones or a quiet room, so each voice is picked up clearly.
• Captions start a few seconds after the call connects, so open with a greeting.
• Names and slang can be misheard. If a caption looks odd, ask again, or type the word in the chat.
